Malmi Aviation Club is an open club for everyone interested in aviation in Helsinki and the Capital Region. As a member you get access to aircraft rental, a welcoming community, and a wide range of events and activities.
An open aviation club – everyone is welcome
Malmi Aviation Club (MIK) was founded in 1988 and has been a cornerstone of Helsinki's aviation community ever since. We are an open club: anyone aged 15 and over who accepts the club's purpose and is of good standing is welcome to join – no prior flying experience needed.
As a member you gain access to the club's aircraft and flight simulator, can participate in weekly club meetings and events, and benefit from a network of experienced pilots. Come and be part of the community!
What does membership include?
Aircraft rental
Members can rent the club's aircraft. Our fleet includes a Diamond DA40 NG and Diamond DV20 – modern, well-maintained planes available at competitive rates.
Community & network
Join a club with hundreds of members. Meet like-minded people at weekly meetings and events throughout the year.
Flight training
The club offers LAPL(A) and PPL(A) pilot licence training. Start your pilot journey or develop your skills with our experienced instructors.
Events & fly-outs
Enjoy weekly club evenings, visits to Air Traffic Control, fly-outs to destinations around Finland and abroad, and many social events throughout the year.
Clubroom access
Access to the clubroom at the historic Malmi Airport in Helsinki, where you can meet other members and take part in club activities.
Flight simulator

Voting rights
Full members can vote at general meetings and influence the direction of the club.

- • Membership is per calendar year – annual invoices are sent out in January.
- • If you join after 1 October, you receive a 50% discount on the annual fee for that year.
- • Honorary members do not pay membership fees.
How to join the club

Fill in the online membership application
Complete the membership application at intra.mik.fi/register. The process is quick and straightforward.
Wait for processing
Your application will typically be processed within one week. You will be notified by email.
Pay your membership fees
You will receive an invoice by email for your annual fee and joining fee. Pay the invoice and your membership is activated.
Pick up the clubroom keys
Visit the weekly club meeting on Wednesday at 18:00 at Malmi Airport to collect the keys to the clubroom.
Start flying
Contact a club instructor to begin flight training, or book an aircraft and take to the skies!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is annual membership valid for 1 year from joining or per calendar year?
Our membership is per calendar year and everyone receives their annual invoice in January. If you join after 1 October, you receive a 50% discount on the annual fee for that first year.
What are the requirements to join the club?
We are an open club so everyone is welcome to join, as long as they accept the purpose of the association and are of good reputation. We have a minimum age of 15.
Can I use the club's aircraft without joining?
That is not possible – we only rent aircraft to our members. However, everyone is free to join, so come and be part of the community!
What is the difference between membership types?
Supporting members are not allowed to use the aircraft or vote. Youth members are allowed to use the aircraft but cannot vote, and their fees are lower. Full members have full access to aircraft and voting rights.
Can I take friends and family with me on the plane if they are not members?
Yes you can. Only the Pilot in Command must be a member of the club. Passengers do not need to be members.
How long does the membership application process take?
Applications are typically processed within one week. You will receive a notification by email, followed by an invoice for your membership fees.
