Aircraft rental in the Capital Region – membership required
Looking to rent a plane in Helsinki or the wider Capital Region? Malmi Aviation Club offers aircraft rental for members at competitive rates. Membership is open to everyone interested in aviation – no prior flying experience or licence required to join.
Our clubroom is located at the historic Malmi Airport site in Helsinki. After the closure of Helsinki-Malmi Airport there are no longer any airports within Helsinki city limits – practical flight operations take place from Nummela Airfield (EFNU) in Vihti, approximately 50 km from Helsinki city centre. All our aircraft carry a season card for Finavia airports (except EFHK) and Nummela, so landing and parking fees at those airfields are included in the rental price.

After your flight, log it in the electronic flight log. An invoice will be sent by email – payment by bank transfer. Cash and card payments are not accepted.

Frequently asked questions – plane rental
Do I pay for the whole booking time?
No. For normal flights we charge by airtime with minute-level precision – only the time the aircraft is in the air. We do not charge for engine running time, taxi time, or reservation time. Block time is used only for flights within a structured training programme.
What is the equipment fee?
The equipment fee (€135/season) is an optional charge that covers some of the fixed costs of our aircraft. If you do not pay the equipment fee, a €40/h surcharge is added to the hourly rate. If you plan to fly more than a few hours during the season, paying the equipment fee makes financial sense.
Fuel is included – what if I need to refuel at another airport?
Our aircraft carry Shell and AirBP fuel cards. If the fuel provider does not accept those cards you can pay yourself and submit an expense reimbursement. Please note that if the fuel is more expensive than at our home airfield (including taxes and any service fees), you are responsible for paying that difference yourself.
I have a pilot licence – can I just join the club and start flying?
You must first fly with one of our instructors. Depending on your familiarity with the aircraft type, this can be a short flight. The instructor will assess your readiness to fly the aircraft independently.
Do you have instructions on how your aircraft should be operated?
Yes. We have an instructions document that you must read before booking the aircraft. It gives you step-by-step guidance on how to collect the aircraft, how to log the flight, and how to report any defects or incidents. The aircraft's own manuals and club operating instructions are available in the intra.
What payment methods do you accept?
After the flight we will send you an invoice by email. Currently we do not accept credit or debit card payments – payment is by bank transfer only.
